Car rental at Marrakech-Menara airport

How the handover works at Menara

In the form, add your flight number and expected arrival time. We follow the landing: if the plane touches down later than planned, the person handing over the car simply pushes back their arrival. After passport control and baggage claim, walk out into the arrivals hall of your terminal. Your contact will be waiting there, and you can reach them on WhatsApp at 06 20 08 80 49 if you don't see them straight away.

The walk-around of the vehicle then takes place in the car park, a few steps from the doors: bodywork, wheel rims, fuel level, photos taken together. You sign, adjust the mirrors, and the road begins.

Leaving the airport and heading into town

The airport is south-west of Marrakech, about 6 km from the Medina, roughly 15 to 20 minutes' drive depending on the time of day. Roundabouts follow one another right from the exit, and the speed limit is 60 km/h in town, sometimes 40. Speed checks are common on these main roads. If you arrive at night, enter your accommodation's address in the GPS before leaving the car park rather than at the first junction.

Which car to take when you step off the plane

With two large suitcases, a city car from the small cars range is enough, as long as you check the luggage capacity listed on each page. A group or a family with a pushchair will be more comfortable in a model from the vans and minibuses category, which saves splitting everyone across two taxis. After a long flight, an automatic gearbox like the one on the Peugeot 208 Auto makes the first kilometres more relaxing.

Many travellers head straight for Essaouira or the Agafay desert without going through the centre. Our guide renting a car at Marrakech-Menara airport covers every step, from arrival to the first road.
