Days out to the Atlas and the stone desert

Where can I charge an electric car during a stay in Marrakech?
Charging points exist in Marrakech, but there are fewer than in Europe. The most comfortable option is accommodation where you can plug the car in overnight: ask your hotel or riad before booking the Geely Ex5 or the Leap Motor C10. We can discuss it on WhatsApp.
Is an electric SUV suitable for a long trip such as Ouarzazate?
For a trip far from Marrakech, with mountain passes and few charging points, a petrol or hybrid engine is easier to manage. Electric cars are mainly recommended for the city and nearby areas. If you are set on an electric car, give us your itinerary in detail: we will tell you frankly whether it is reasonable.
Which SUV should I choose for the track to the Agafay camps?
The road is paved almost all the way; only the last stretch may be a track, depending on the camp. The SUVs in the category, such as the Haval Jolion or the Hyundai Tucson, offer more comfortable ground clearance than a compact. They are not 4x4s: drive at walking pace and ask the camp about the state of the track.

Both are 2.0 L petrol compacts with an automatic gearbox, 5 seats and 2 bags. The VZ is the sportiest version of the Leon, which explains a clearly higher daily rate. For everyday use between the city and excursions, the standard Leon does the job very well.
What budget should I plan for a standard category car?
Rates range from about 40 € a day for the Haval Jolion to 110 € for the Cupra Leon VZ, with most models between 60 and 70 €. The current price is shown on each listing. Only the options you add, such as an additional driver, are charged on top.
Does the hybrid DS 4 really use less fuel in town?
The principle of a hybrid is to rely on the electric part at low speed and during stop-and-go phases. That is exactly what you get in the traffic of Guéliz and around the Medina. On the motorway, the gap with a conventional petrol car narrows, but the DS 4 remains pleasant on long journeys.
SUV or compact: which is better suited to the roads around Marrakech?
The SUV gives a higher seating position and better visibility, welcome on mountain roads and the many speed bumps in villages. The compact, like the DS 4 or the Cupra Leon, is lower and more agile in town. If your stay mixes city and excursions, a compact SUV like the Jolion is a good compromise.
Can you drive up to Oukaïmeden in winter with a rental SUV?
The resort is about 75 km from Marrakech and peaks at around 2,600 m. In winter, snow and ice can make the end of the road tricky. Check the road conditions the same morning, set off early and turn back if conditions worsen. Let us know about this plan when you book.

It is an easy outing: about 40 km, i.e. 45 minutes by road from Marrakech. Any model in the category will do, including the electric ones, since the round trip is short. An SUV will be more comfortable if you want to reach the viewpoints on the tracks around the lake.
