Handover in a residential district

Agdal stretches south of the Medina, near the gardens of the same name and along Avenue Mohammed VI. It has many gated residences with a guard, rental apartments and recent hotels. The car is handed over at the entrance: give us the name of the residence, the building number and the access to use. Some residences don't let outside vehicles in; in that case, we meet at the gate.

Heading south without crossing the centre

The district's main asset for a driver: you are already on the right side of the city for the Atlas. The Ourika valley (about 65 km, 1 h 15 to 1 h 30), Imlil (about 1 h 30) and Oukaïmeden, a ski resort perched at about 2,600 m, can be reached without suffering the traffic jams of the centre. Lake Lalla Takerkoust and the Agafay desert are about 45 minutes away. In town, Avenue Mohammed VI looks made for driving fast: the limit is still 60 km/h, and speed checks are frequent.

Choosing according to the road

The mountain roads to Imlil or Oukaïmeden are a succession of bends and climbs. An SUV from the standard cars category, like the Hyundai Tucson, offers a high driving position and comfort for this kind of day. In winter, it may snow on the heights of Oukaïmeden: find out about road conditions before setting off. If you stay on the plains, a car from the small cars range is more than enough.
